Fireworks Night Together

Nothing says summer in Japan quite like a hanabi taikai, and for a lot of our students it was their very first one. A few members brought spare yukata to lend, someone taught the group how to tie the obi correctly (mostly), and we staked out a spot along the river well before sunset.

The fireworks were the backdrop; the real event was three hours of talking, laughing, and pointing at the sky together. That’s what these evenings are for.
