What Is Crossing?
Crossing is an international student community that brings together people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds.
Our name reflects who we are. Students from different campuses cross paths. Cultures meet and learn from one another. Friendships grow across languages and borders. We believe some of life's most meaningful experiences happen when people are willing to step across boundaries and genuinely get to know one another.
Through meals, conversations, outings, cultural activities, language exchange, discussion groups, and Bible studies, we hope every student can find friendship and a place to belong.
Whether you're staying in Japan for one semester or several years, we'd love to journey with you.
Crossing isn't just for students who are already in Japan. We also welcome students who are preparing to study here. Through our online community, you can meet people, ask questions about life in Japan, and begin building friendships before you arrive.
Who We Are
Crossing is an international student ministry of KGK (Kirisuto-sha Gakusei Kai), Japan's evangelical student movement.
KGK has been serving university students across Japan for over 75 years through local campus groups, churches, and Christian volunteers.
Crossing is also affiliated with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), a global movement of student ministries active in more than 180 countries.
Our volunteers include university students, graduates, local Christians, and friends who enjoy welcoming international students into the community.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a Christian?
No. Many people who join our activities are not Christians. Everyone is welcome regardless of their beliefs.
Will someone try to convert me?
Our Christian faith shapes who we are, so conversations about faith sometimes happen naturally. Some events specifically explore Christianity, while many others are simply social gatherings. You're always free to ask questions, disagree, or simply come for the friendship.
Is Crossing a cult?
No. Crossing is part of KGK (Kirisuto-sha Gakusei Kai), Japan's evangelical student movement, and is affiliated with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), a worldwide network of student ministries. We are transparent about our beliefs, our leadership, and our partnerships. Participation is always voluntary.
Is there a membership fee?
Most activities are free. Some outings or special events may require participants to cover transportation, meals, or admission costs.
I'm not in Japan yet. Can I join?
Absolutely. If you've been accepted to study in Japan or are preparing to come, you're welcome to join our online community. It's a great way to meet people, ask questions, and start making friends before you arrive.
